Getting
In Your Game What does it really take in order to join the ranks of the successful? A systematic change of habits, both mental habits and action habits. Ouch!
“But I like 2 scoops of ice cream before bedtime” …. That’s why you are overweight
“But I like to go work out every evening at 7PM” …. That’s why your not talking to as many people as you should
“When my employees make me made, I let them know they messed up” …. That’s why you don’t have the best working for you
“But I like to have a couple of drinks after work on the way home with the guys” … How’s your marriage?
You see …. Cause and effect …. Choice and outcome … systematic choices (habits) … systematic outcomes.
So accept it right now, if you are going to have new success in your life … in any aspect of your life, you are going to have to change your habits. But it’s not as hard as you think.
You see, when faced with changing a habit we project into the future, and it looks uncertain/uncomfortable without the normalcy of what we know. So we just keep doing the habit. Sure we try to kick the habit from time to time, but unless we undergo a fundamental re-programming of our conscious and subconscious vision we cannot easily break habits.
It is known that you can break ANY habit in 21 days, and totally replace it with new good habits in another 21 days. So you are 42 days away from being the new you. That’s not so long is it? In the timeline of your life, it’s a pinprick.
I found habit breaking to be difficult. But I have found a new way and I'm about 2 weeks into a course I’m taking from Lee Milteer on Habit Busting. Great course. Lot’s of concepts and language in there that is also in my book “The Last 8 Inches of your Former Life”. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
And no I did not take Milteer’s course or any like it before. Sometimes it is reinforcing to hear the same things from someone else.
The key to success in this is learning how to visualize this new you.
On the last Getting in Your Game call (2 Thursday’s ago) we covered Demarcation as a transformational strategy. On this Thursday night’s call (February 8, 2007 10:15PM EST, 712-432-3000, pin# 103664), I will be discussing techniques for visualizing and visualization so that you can formulate a clear picture of the prize. Once you do that, you will be able to clearly see what habit changes you will need to make, in order for you to get the prize. It really is as simple as that.
And as my good friend Ellie Drake likes to say … It is easier done than said.
So today is the day, get started today!
